Out of season the plateau is green, quiet, and cheap, and the town lake promenade is easy with children. Swimming is a summer thing, but walks, the promenade boat, olive season, and the saffron harvest are not. Here is how the shoulder and winter months actually work.
With children
The Belsh town lake is the easy one for families: a flat promenade, cafés, a small pleasure boat in summer, and space to run around. The deeper lakes out on the plateau are better admired than swum with small kids.
In winter
Winter and the shoulder months trade swimming for green hills, empty roads, and low prices. Olive season runs into autumn, saffron peaks in late October, and the whole plateau is yours. Bring layers — it is inland and can be cold and wet.
